Re “Corruption fuels hunger in Zimbabwe,” Dec. 9

This article on the dire conditions in Zimbabwe struck me as especially ironic given the juxtaposition of a full-page ad for diamonds from Tiffany on the opposite page and a smaller ad below the article for Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses. I hope that this holiday season, if not all year long, people will forgo the useless diamonds and the $200 fashion accessories and give to charities feeding the hungry instead. Or is that too much to ask of the fashion-conscious set?
