Re “ ‘Fruit’ in that juice? It could be red dye,” Jan. 26 and “What about fruitcakes?” editorial, Jan. 27

The recent story and editorial suggest some ambiguity from some researchers about the nutritional value and juice content of some products. Actually, the label on a beverage product is clear and upfront about juice content and the nutrition facts of that product. If there is any confusion, it’s being generated by some researchers trying to read things into products or create unnecessary confusion to advocate their particular point of view.

The beverage industry makes an array of products to meet the diverse needs and tastes of consumers, and it is in our interest to make sure our consumers know what they’re drinking. If you’re concerned about the amount of juice in a beverage product or the nutritional value of a product, the answers are right in your hand. Just read the label.
