Rates on 30-year fixed mortgages rise to 6.34%

Thirty-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.34% this week, up from 6.25% last week, mortgage company Freddie Mac said.

Rates on 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, a popular choice for refinancing, rose to 6.06% from 5.98% last week. Five-year adjustable-rate mortgages rose to 6.04% from 6%, and one-year ARMs climbed to 5.54% from 5.49%.

The rates do not include add-on fees known as points. Thirty-year and 15-year mortgages carried a nationwide average fee of 0.4 of a point. Five-year mortgages carried an average fee of 0.6 of a point, and one-year mortgages carried a fee of 0.7 of a point.
