A good run

Share

In a youth sports culture where parents and coaches have kids thinking they must commit to one sport by the time they enter high school or even earlier, I loved reading about Kate Grace [Jan. 27] and her path to success in cross-country running. The part about her “discovering a talent that she never knew existed” makes me wonder how many other kids haven’t had that opportunity. I give a lot of credit to her high school coach who didn’t discourage Grace from participating in other sports and activities (and the soccer coach who required his athletes to run cross-country).
