N.Y. Met operas get encores

Share

Buoyed by the early response to its decision to make live opera performances available in movie theaters, New York’s Metropolitan Opera will encore two of the high-definition transmissions, this time to a wider selection of outlets.

Bellini’s “I Puritani,” starring Anna Netrebko, will be rebroadcast on tape on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. and Tan Dun’s “The First Emperor,” starring Placido Domingo, will repeat on March 7 at 7 p.m. and March 11 at 1:30 p.m.

When shown live, they were available at three theaters in L.A. and Orange counties, but this time they’ll be at nine theaters: Downtown Disney 12 in Anaheim; Century City 15 in L.A.; Ontario Mills 30 in Ontario; The Block 30@Orange in Orange; Promenade 16 in Woodland Hills; Alhambra Renaissance 14 in Alhambra; Burbank 16 in Burbank; Irvine Spectrum 21 in Irvine; and Valencia Stadium 12 in Santa Clarita.
