* Online music retailer Napster Inc. posted a fiscal third-quarter loss of $9.5 million, or 22 cents a share, compared with a loss of $17 million, or 40 cents, a year earlier. Revenue at the Los Angeles company increased 21% to $28.4 million.

* Sunglass maker Oakley Inc. said its fourth-quarter profit slid 20%, marking the third quarter in the year in which the branded-products maker posted falling earnings. Quarterly net income fell to $7.7 million, or 11 cents a share, from $9.6 million, or 14 cents, a year earlier. Sales at the Foothill Ranch company rose 21% to $196.4 million.

* Beckman Coulter Inc.’s net income more than tripled in the fourth quarter after the Fullerton company increased sales of laboratory equipment and cut expenses. Net income rose to $62.3 million, or 97 cents a share, from $17.8 million, or 28 cents, a year earlier, the firm said. Revenue rose 8.6% to $712 million.
