THOSE Marlborough and Harvard-Westlake girls are about 50 years too late to claim ownership of the Brentwood Country Mart as the place to hang [“In Brentwood, Quaint Finds a New Crowd,” Jan. 28].

My girlfriends and I walked up the hill from Paul Revere Junior High School to the Mart every Friday afternoon. We too could sit there for hours without anyone telling us to move on. The guy who ran the magazine stand would sometimes tell us to quit standing on the display racks, but mostly it was a good place to giggle about school, boys and the adults we never dreamed we’d become. It’s nice to know some things never change.
