Unhappy tenants should just move

Re “Aid is in their corner for legal fight,” Dec. 28

Did these tenants need a lawyer when they signed a contract and moved in? If a tenant disputes an eviction, most bleeding-heart judges will give them almost six months or more to camp out on a landlord without paying a dime of rent.

When you don’t pay for utilities, you are deprived of those services without going to court. When you don’t pay rent, landlords have every right to contract, in advance, that tenants give them advance permission to change the locks the day the rent is not paid. The law should be changed to permit deadbeat tenants to also be sent to jail when they don’t pay rent. This has nothing to do with due process or the law, but rather with common sense and justice. Did they ask for any due process when they moved in? By the way, if these tenants do not like the conditions of the place, all they have to do is move and find themselves another place. Finally, if they don’t like renting, they should buy their own home.
