How do you follow an Academy Award-winning performance?
If you’re Philip Seymour Hoffman, you go off-Broadway. The actor, an Oscar winner for “Capote,” will star in the world premiere of “Jack Goes Boating,” a play by Bob Glaudini, in which Hoffman portrays a man subjected to a turbulent first date.
The play is a production of the LAByrinth Theater Company, where Hoffman serves as co-artistic director with John Ortiz. Ortiz will be in the cast, too, along with Beth Cole and Daphne Rubin-Vega, currently playing Fantine in the Broadway revival of “Les Miserables.” “Jack Goes Boating” opens March 18 at the Public Theater’s Martinson Hall in New York.
