Re “How Humphrey got to be Bogie,” Current, Jan. 14

Richard Schickel’s frothy paean asserts that “Casablanca” is a movie that “everyone loves and goes on loving forever.” After two viewings of the film, I fail to see how this set-bound tedium with cheesy lines ever made a top-100 list and am astonished at Humphrey Bogart’s lack of range, playing the hard-boiled tough guy in every film in which he appeared.
