Heat-seekers hit Sundance

Share

THE Sundance Film Festival is all about stars, parties, swag, branding, skiing and, oh, yeah, films. The no-longer-sleepy little town of Park City, Utah, was invaded last week by more stars than you could shake a snowboard at, along with studio honchos looking for the next “Little Miss Sunshine.” But deals aren’t a priority for the Fundance party peeps. 1. The packed MySpace bash hosted by mogul Tom Anderson was the most crowded. Even Sean “Diddy” Combs had to cool his heels before being let in. Ouch. That’s gotta sting. 2. Jared Leto, right, with his 30 Seconds to Mars band, fled Tao at Harry O’s when he heard Cameron Diaz’s ex Justin Timberlake might perform. 3. Actor Ryan Reynolds was on the scene. 4. Everyone was buzzing about the rape scene in Dakota Fanning’s indie film, “Hounddog.” To some, far more disturbing was her well-photographed bumbling performance on skis. Give her a break. She’s still learning the slopes.

Star caterer caters to the stars

5. Crustacean owner-chef Helene An, fresh from being honored for her family’s culinary arts at the Smithsonian Museum’s new Vietnamese exhibit, dished oodles of her famous garlic noodles (in red takeout cartons) at fashion designer Randolph Duke’s birthday party/Hollywood Hills housewarming Jan. 20. Her new catering biz is sure to please foodie fans like Michael Douglas, Oliver Stone and Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, who hates having to take off his incognito baseball cap (sorry, not on the dress code) at the Beverly Hills eatery.

They thank you for ‘Smokin”

“Entourage” star Jeremy Piven missed the Hollywood premiere of “Smokin’ Aces” because he was in New York hosting “Saturday Night Live.” But that didn’t keep the film’s Jan. 18 after-party at the Roosevelt Hotel from being Universal’s hottest bash ever. 6. Thanks to Kanye West, left, and Common for rocking the house with an impromptu 45-minute set. In the mix: Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated “Borat” star Sacha Baron Cohen, his fiancee Isla Fisher and Chris Rock. 7. Also attending were Alicia Keys and Tracee Ellis Ross, Ben Affleck, Andy Garcia, a pregnant Amanda Peet and David Benioff, and scary guy Ray Liotta.

Boys look Pretty in Pink-helmed video

8. Pink made her music video directorial debut Jan. 16 at the Glamour Reel Music Presented by Nissan concert at Fox Studios with the “Hello Bonjour” video for N.Y.-based Pretty Boys, winners of the Reel Music contest. Hanging with the Boys, she admitted, “I didn’t think I was gonna like directing that much, and then the Virgo in me took over and I became a tweaker and wanted to control everything!”

No party is complete without . . .

... a little man-on-man action! 9. Ben Affleck, left, plants a big wet one on his “Smokin’ Aces” director, Joe Carnahan, at the film’s premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Jan. 17.

Toast to McQueen and to old times

10. Jack Klugman and Michelle Phillips were among Hollywood’s old guard at Neile McQueen Toffel’s cocktail party for the 20th anniversary of her book, “My Husband, My Friend,” about her late mate, Steve McQueen, at the trendy West Hollywood eatery Le Petit Bistro on Jan. 17.
