From Times Wire Reports

Afghan President Hamid Karzai told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that his security forces needed more training and equipment, as the two discussed possible U.S. troop increases, an Afghan official said.

Pelosi (D-San Francisco) and Karzai discussed the Bush administration’s plan to ask Congress for $10.6 billion to rebuild Afghanistan and strengthen government security forces battling a resurgent Taliban.

President Bush has extended the deployment of 3,200 troops serving in the Central Asian nation, where U.S. forces helped oust the fundamentalist Taliban regime over its support for Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
