The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq and Kuwait or who died at a U.S. hospital of their injuries:

Alexandre A. Alexeev, 23, of Wilmington; specialist, Army. Alexeev was among five soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Abu Sayda, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

William L. Bailey III, 29, of Bellevue, Neb.; private, Army National Guard. Bailey was killed May 25 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Taji, Iraq, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 755th Chemical Reconnaissance/Decontamination Company in O’Neill, Neb.

Zachary D. Baker, 24, of Vilonia, Ark.; corporal, Army. Baker was among five soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Abu Sayda, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Matthew E. Baylis, 20, of Oakdale, N.Y.; private first class, Army. Baylis died Thursday of injuries suffered a day earlier when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Matthew A. Bean, 22, of Pembroke, Mass.; private first class, Army. Bean died Thursday after being removed from life support at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., where he was being treated for injuries suffered May 19 when he was shot in the head by a sniper in Latifiya, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Clinton C. Blodgett, 19, of Pekin, Ind.; specialist, Army. Blodgett was killed May 26 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Mark R.C. Caguioa, 21, of Stockton; specialist, Army. Caguioa died May 24 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., of wounds suffered May 4 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Theodore U. Church, 32, of South Point, Ohio; chief warrant officer, Army. Church was one of two soldiers killed Monday when their Kiowa helicopter was shot down in Muqdadiya, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Richard V. Correa, 25, of Honolulu; sergeant, Army. Correa was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded near them while on foot patrol in Ilbu Falris, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Bacilio E. Cuellar, 24, of Odessa, Texas; sergeant, Army. Cuellar was among three soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Chadrick O. Domino, 23, of Ennis, Texas; specialist, Army. Domino was killed Thursday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Robert E. Dunham, 36, of Baltimore; sergeant first class, Army. Dunham was one of two soldiers killed May 24 when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Brigade Transition Team and attached to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Dunn was among three paratroopers killed May 26 when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Iraq’s Salahuddin province, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Keith N. Heidtman, 24, of Norwich, Conn.; first lieutenant, Army. Heidtman was one of two soldiers killed Monday when their Kiowa helicopter was shot down in Muqdadiya, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. Robert A. Liggett, 23, of Urbana, Ill.; private first class, Army. Liggett died Tuesday of injuries suffered in a noncombat-related incident in Rustamiya, Iraq, southeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Benning, Ga.

David P. Lindsey, 20, of Spartanburg, S.C.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Lindsey was fatally shot in the head May 25 while on guard duty in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. Military officials said the nonhostile incident was under investigation. Lindsey was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

James E. Lundin, 20, of Bellport, N.Y.; specialist, Army. Lundin was among three soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Baghdad. Emmanuel Villarreal, 21, of Eagle Pass, Texas; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Villareal was killed May 27 in a nonhostile vehicle accident at Kuwait Naval Base in Kuwait.
