Exit the neocons

Re “Purge of the neocons,” editorial, May 31

Too little, too late. That’s how I feel about the president purging incompetent neoconservatives from his administration. The prime reason virtually every aspect of the Iraq war has been criminally mismanaged is that the people sent to accomplish the mission were vetted not for their experience or ability but for their political views and loyalty. The result is nearly 3,500 Americans and 100,000 Iraqis killed.

The president isn’t giving up on neocons because of any conversion. It’s just that he no longer has a Senate to approve his every appointment.
