A suicide car bomber targeting a NATO convoy in Tirin Kot, Afghanistan, killed 10 people, including five children and a Dutch soldier, amid a day of violence that also left a U.S.-led coalition member and more than 24 militants dead, officials said.

The coalition service member was killed in a clash in Paktika province, a statement said. His nationality was not released, but most troops there are American.

In the southern province of Helmand, a joint coalition and Afghan patrol was attacked Thursday. The troops called in airstrikes, killing more than two dozen militants, a coalition statement said.
