Other deaths

The Defense Department last week also identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan, Iraq and Qatar:

Eric M. Barnes, 20, of Lorain, Ohio; airman first class, Air Force. Barnes was killed June 9 when his convoy vehicle was attacked with an improvised bomb that exploded about 100 miles south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo.

Casey S. Carriker, 20, of Hoquiam, Wash.; private first class, Army. Carriker died of noncombat-related injuries Wednesday in Kirkuk, Iraq, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Dariek E. Dehn, 32, of Spangle, Wash.; sergeant, Army. Dehn was killed June 2 when an improvised bomb exploded near him in Sharkat, Iraq, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Cory M. Endlich, 23, of Massillon, Ohio; sergeant, Army. Endlich was killed June 9 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Taji, Iraq, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Glade L. Felix, 52, of Lake Park, Ga.; lieutenant colonel, Air Force. Felix died of noncombat-related injuries Monday at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, where he was serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to the 622nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron at Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

Llythaniele Fender, 21, of Medical Lake, Wash.; corporal, Army. Fender was among three soldiers killed June 10 when a roadside bomb exploded near them in Karbala, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Adam G. Herold, 23, of Omaha; specialist, Army. Herold was among three soldiers killed June 10 when a roadside bomb exploded near them in Karbala, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division at Ft. Richardson, Alaska.

Josiah W. Hollopeter, 27, of San Diego; specialist, Army. Hollopeter died Thursday in Balad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Muqdadiya, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood,Texas.

William C. Johnson, 22, of Oxford, N.C.; private, Army. Johnson was killed Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded near him in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Damon G. Legrand, 27, of Lakeside, Calif.; specialist, Army. Legrand died Tuesday in Baqubah, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his unit was attacked with anti-tank mines, rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 571st Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Arthur L. Lilley, 35, of Smithfield, Pa.; master sergeant, Army. Lilley was killed Friday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Shkin, Afghanistan, a Pakistani border town south of Kabul. He was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Brian M. Long, 32, of Burns, Wyo.; staff sergeant, Army. Long was killed June 10 when a roadside bomb exploded near him while he was on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Scott A. Miller, 20, of Casper, Wyo.; private, Army. Miller was killed June 9 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Baqubah, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Meresebang Ngiraked, 21, of Koror, Republic of Palau; corporal, Army. Ngiraked was among three soldiers killed June 10 when a roadside bomb exploded near them in Karbala, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Cameron K. Payne, 22, of Corona; private first class, Army. Payne died Monday in Balad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Johnny R. Strong, 21, of Waco, Texas; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Strong was killed Tuesday when his platoon was ambushed while on routine patrol in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division in Twentynine Palms, Calif.
