Update -- The Sparks go from playing defending WNBA-champion Detroit to facing a team that won the first four league titles but has fallen on hard times. The winless Comets rely heavily on one player, Tina Thompson, who ranks fifth in the league with an average of 18.8 points per game. Forward LaToya Thomas has stepped into the Sparks’ lineup in place of Chamique Holdsclaw the past four games and averaged 15 points. But the Sparks, who edged the Comets, 74-71, on June 13, have shot less than 38% from the floor the past two games.
