Colleges get Getty grants

The Getty Foundation on Tuesday announced its grant of more than $2 million to aid preservation of structures and grounds at college campuses around the country.

The awarded projects include the Miami University of Ohio’s project to restore the campus’ Georgian Revival-style buildings, Talladega College’s work on Swayne Hall in Alabama, the University at Albany campus in New York’s work on buildings designed by American architect Edward Durrell Stones and the University of Hawaii’s preservation of landscapes designed by Richard Tongg, considered to be the first Chinese American landscape architect.

UC San Diego, the University of Texas at Austin and Marlboro College in Vermont were among other grant winners.
