Iranian refugees welcomed, at last

From Times Wire Reports

An Iranian refugee who had been living with her two children at Moscow’s international airport for nine months has arrived in Vancouver.

Zahra Kamalfar, who says she was jailed and beaten for demonstrating against Iran’s government in 2004, burst out sobbing, then fainted Thursday when reunited with her brother, Nader, after nearly 14 years.

Kamalfar, 47, and children Anna, 17, and Davood, 12, had been living in the transit lounge of Sheremetyevo airport since Russia denied them entry in May, her Canadian lawyer said. Canada granted entry after the U.N. bestowed refugee status.
