Chandler, Hornets pour it on the Celtics

Tyson Chandler had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and the New Orleans Hornets rallied to defeat the Boston Celtics, 106-88, Monday night at Oklahoma City.

With their second-most-lopsided win this season, New Orleans moved to within 1 1/2 games of Golden State for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Celtics couldn’t miss at the start but scored only nine points in the second quarter as the Hornets took control.

Jannero Pargo made a three-point basket to break a 34-34 tie, and Rasual Butler and Devin Brown followed with three-point baskets to spark New Orleans’ 21-4 second-quarter run.

Paul Pierce, who didn’t play in the fourth quarter, scored 28 points for the Celtics.

Atlanta 99, Sacramento 76 -- Josh Childress scored a season-high 25 points and Zaza Pachulia scored 23 to help the host Hawks to their biggest margin of victory this season.

The Kings, led by Corliss Williamson’s 14 points, dropped to 1-6 since ending a four-game winning streak March 6 against Indiana.

Forward Zach Randolph, Portland’s leading scorer, was granted a bereavement leave and will sit out the Trail Blazers’ home game tonight against Washington.
