Sign twirlers’ ads

Re “The fine art of making a point,” Column One, May 1

I’ve noticed the sign twirlers in action during my lunch-break walks in Burbank. Yes, they do attract motorists’ attention, but they spin, twirl and flip the signs at such a high rate of speed that you are unable to read what they’re advertising. What’s the sense of drilling these workers on the art of sign twirling when people are unable to read what they’re advertising?
