Nothing is wrong with vocational ed

Share

Regarding “LAUSD sees a future in career ed,” Rick Wartzman, California & Co., April 27:

I think John W. Gardner, former secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, said it best:

“The society which scorns excellence in plumbing because plumbing is a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because it is an exalted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy. Neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water.”

Our society should reward excellence, not labels.
