Boat sinks; search is on for crew of 16
Rescuers searched for 16 missing crew members of a South Korean cargo vessel that sank after colliding with a Chinese freighter in foggy waters off northeast China, officials said.
No survivors or bodies have been found, South Korean coast guard official Yang Jong-ta said.
The 3,800-ton Golden Rose sank about 4 a.m. Saturday, about 40 miles southeast of Dalian, a coastal city in northeastern Liaoning province. The crew comprised one Indonesian, seven South Koreans and eight from Myanmar.
The crew of the Chinese ship was unharmed and returned to Dalian, where it reported the incident about seven hours after the collision, Yang said.
