Worshipers gather in Greensburg
More than 3,000 residents, volunteers and disaster workers gathered in Greensburg for a nondenominational service, the first time the congregations had worshiped in the town since a May 4 tornado.
Tears and hugs were common as many residents saw each other for the first time since the tornado destroyed more than 90% of the town and killed nine.
The congregation members held hands as Willard Olinger, the elderly pastor of Faith Tabernacle, reassured them that Greensburg would be rebuilt, even if it is not within his lifetime.
