Countrywide to add 2,000 staffers

Countrywide Financial Corp. said it would aggressively add to its sales force as a slowdown in the housing market forced rivals to cut staff. The company said it would add about 2,000 salespeople this year and open 100 retail branches.
Calabasas-based Countrywide boosted its residential mortgage market share to 18.2% in the first quarter from 17.5% in the prior three months.
