From Times Wire Reports

Convicted Al Qaeda supporter David Hicks of Australia was transferred to a high-security prison in his hometown, Adelaide, after spending more than five years at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

After arriving on a private jet, he was taken to the Yatala prison, where he will serve the final seven months of his sentence, officials said.

The government has refused to comment on whether Hicks will be held in isolation or be allowed to mix with other prisoners, saying only that “public safety is the primary concern.”

Hicks, 31, was captured in Afghanistan in December 2001.
