Out of the fire

It was a devastating week for San Diego County. But not one person I have talked to, from evacuees to firefighters to people who lost their homes, was opposed to the Chargers playing their regularly scheduled game Sunday.

The Chargers’ game sent a message -- that we were down but not out. And the victory lifted spirits throughout the county.
