Odd vertical vision

Re “Making room for more,” editorial, Nov. 6

I agree with the arguments for allowing L.A. to become taller and denser. However, I was mystified by the list of areas where it makes sense for the city to soar. There were the obvious candidates that are already soaring, like Century City. But then there was the odd inclusion of “some neighborhoods south of the Santa Monica Freeway.”

Does The Times know something we don’t about South L.A.? Are the single-family neighborhoods of West Adams less equal to those of Hancock Park?

Imagine the thunder if some neighborhoods north of the 10 Freeway were pegged to go vertical.

All areas of L.A. cherish their Southern California lifestyle and neighborhoods, and smart, dense growth needs to occur everywhere.
