Sale of endangered fish nets man a prison term

A Cypress man was sentenced Tuesday to one year and a day in federal prison for selling an endangered fish from Southeast Asia that collectors pay thousands for on the U.S. black market.
Bruce Penny, 37, sold Asian arowanas, also called dragon fish or lucky fish, to an unidentified man in New York, federal prosecutors said. He pleaded guilty earlier this year to a conspiracy charge.
Two co-defendants, Anthony Robles of Carson and Peter Wu of Rowland Heights, were sentenced to three years’ probation. Robles was also ordered to serve six months of home detention.
