Welcome respect for daytime soaps

I must express my thanks for Lynn Smith’s article regarding how the writers strike may affect daytime serials [“A Cliffhanger for Soaps,” Nov. 12]. I am of that breed that loves “The Office” and “General Hospital,” “Mad Men” and “Guiding Light.” Daytime programming -- long neglected and often unjustly ridiculed -- often equals and, on rare occasion, exceeds some of its prime-time counterparts.

I commend you for an article that was respectful of the genre, as well as clear and concise regarding the issues involved.
