Protests called over TV ban
From Times Wire Reports
Georgian opposition leaders called for a mass demonstration Sunday to protest a ban on Imedi, the main television station critical of the government.
Police raided Imedi after forcing protesters off the streets with tear gas and rubber bullets two weeks ago. A judge had stripped the broadcaster of its license, accusing it of inciting violence.
The opposition said a free and fair election would be impossible unless Imedi was allowed to broadcast. The election is set for Jan. 5.
