Dozens of lawmakers led by the speaker of Afghanistan’s lower house of parliament staged a walkout to protest an apparent lack of government action over the deaths of six lawmakers and 61 schoolchildren.

Younis Qanooni, a leading opposition figure, said the government had ignored parliament’s demand to suspend officials in the province of Baghlan, where a suicide bomber attacked visiting lawmakers Nov. 6.

About 77 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in the blast and the subsequent shooting by panicked guards, officials said.

Elsewhere, a roadside bomb struck an Afghan army vehicle in an eastern province, killing four soldiers and wounding two, an official said. Several hours later, a suicide bomber killed two civilians in Kabul.
