Safety of children is compromised

Re “Vaccines with mercury are called low risk,” Sept. 27

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, after conducting a $5.3-million study, determined that vaccinations received in the first seven months of life presented no developmental risks to the children assessed. When does the CDC plan to study the children who appear to be developing normally until about their second birthday and then start regressing, as many parents have stated? Is there any connection with the vaccines they were exposed to after that initial seven-month period? Might the surge in autism diagnoses in toddlers possibly be related to those later “booster shots” and/or the measles/mumps/rubella and varicella vaccines? How much mercury was used as a preservative in those last two before complaints caused it to be abandoned? Experts who don’t seek answers to the right questions are not reassuring. No wonder a lot of concerned parents still question the safety of required inoculations.

This is yet another CDC-funded study that uses spin tactics in its attempt to clear thimerosal of any connection with neuro-developmental disorders. The apparent disregard of the many disconcerting findings in this study is misleading at best and fraudulent at worst. How can anyone fail to see the inherent conflict of interest in promoting vaccines while simultaneously monitoring safety? These conflicts of interest cast serious doubt on the validity of the study. Perhaps the most distressing thing is that the people we should be able to trust most are compromising the truth at the expense of the health and safety of our children.
