A bombing at a famous Muslim shrine in northwest India killed at least two people and wounded 17 others, police in Ajmer said.

The explosion at the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, a 12th century Sufi Muslim saint, took place just after dusk as hundreds of men and women broke the daily fasts they observe during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The blast occurred around the time for evening prayers, when the sprawling white-marble shrine was packed with hundreds of worshipers. It also came days ahead of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.
