China blocks probe by WTO
China blocked the establishment of an investigation by the World Trade Organization into its restrictions on the sale of American movies, music and books that the U.S. requested.
China has the right to block the investigation once. But it cannot delay the panel’s establishment a second time, meaning the investigation will probably be authorized next month.
The case concerns U.S. filmmakers, online music providers and other media suppliers who claim to be suffering from “less favorable distribution opportunities” in China.
