Astronauts inspect lab’s new room

From Times Wire Reports

Astronauts swung open the door to their addition to the International Space Station and floated into the spacious and sparkling white room, formally christening it Harmony.

Even though it looked immaculate inside, space station Commander Peggy Whitson and Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli -- the first to enter -- wore surgical masks and goggles to protect themselves from dirty stowaways, like dust or lint.

The school bus-size chamber was named by schoolchildren in the United States but made in Italy, and Nespoli proudly noted that as he bobbed in Harmony, which was delivered by the shuttle Discovery.
