Regarding your story on “motivation to go green” [“The Perils of Acting Green,” Sept. 2], here’s a simple idea: Refund the full cost of buying a solar dryer. Clotheslines come in a variety of styles and are far more energy efficient than even the best energy star dryers, since they require zero energy to work like a charm.

Celebrities have always joined up for a good cause. It’s their way of doing penance. After you’ve played, or actually been, a pimp, pervert, drug kingpin, drug addict, alcoholic, child molester, rapist, killer, mob boss, assassin, secret agent, call girl, hooker, stalker . . . one must have a mea culpa. Crushing a couple of cans and tossing them in the recycling bin helps them assuage their conscience.
