The former Typhoon Wipha continued to weaken as it swept across China, but its torrential rains destroyed thousands of houses and triggered landslides. The death toll reached seven, with three people missing.

Wipha was downgraded to a tropical storm after it made landfall in Zhejiang province, south of Shanghai.
