Typhoon weakens but leaves 7 dead

The former Typhoon Wipha continued to weaken as it swept across China, but its torrential rains destroyed thousands of houses and triggered landslides. The death toll reached seven, with three people missing.
Authorities in Shanghai and nearby provinces evacuated about 2.7 million people.
Wipha was downgraded to a tropical storm after it made landfall in Zhejiang province, south of Shanghai.
