Woody Allen sued American Apparel Inc., claiming that the L.A. clothing company used his image in ads on billboards and the Internet without his consent.

The billboards depict the actor and Oscar-winning director dressed as a rabbi, according to the suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

Allen said the company never contacted or compensated him. The suit says he doesn’t endorse products in the U.S. He is seeking damages in excess of $10 million.
