Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, maker of the “Rocky” films, said Chief Operating Officer Rick Sands resigned after more than two years at the company.
Sands left “to pursue other opportunities in entertainment and content,” the studio said Wednesday. The resignation was effective immediately.
Last month, MGM hired former Universal Pictures executive Mary Parent as chairwoman of its worldwide motion picture group. Chief Executive Harry Sloan said her arrival was a step in rebuilding the Los Angeles studio.
Sands joined MGM in January 2006 after serving as president and chief operating officer of DreamWorks SKG.
