U.S. naval group in Hong Kong
From Times Wire Reports
The U.S. aircraft carrier Nimitz and four ships in its strike group arrived in Hong Kong on a port call with 7,000 sailors, a U.S. Consulate spokesman said. The visit comes months after the Kitty Hawk battle group tried to make a long-scheduled visit on Thanksgiving, but was told upon arrival that officials had not received notification from Beijing to grant access.
The incident drove a wedge between the U.S. and China, which had seen their relations warm in recent years.
