Ask the jobless if a recession is on
The April 5 Los Angeles Times says it all: 80,000 new unemployment claims. (“Widespread job losses a grim signal.”)
It only confirms what we are seeing here in Orange County: slow growth and a prevailing sense of worry.
Ironically, the Federal Reserve chairman testified before Congress that we might be slipping into a recession. I think that there are now 80,000 new experts who would be happy to assure our Congress that we are already stuck in an economic quagmire.
