TV reporter sues city and LAPD
A television reporter is suing the city and Police Department, saying that officers struck her with batons and knocked her to the ground when an immigration rally turned ugly and police began forcibly clearing protesters and journalists.
KTTV-TV Channel 11 reporter Christina Gonzalez said police used excessive force during the May 1 MacArthur Park rally even though she was wearing press credentials and was accompanied by a camerawoman, who has filed a similar suit, according to the lawsuit filed Friday in Superior Court.
Gonzalez suffered physical injuries, “shock to her nervous system” and “severe emotional distress,” the lawsuit says.
