Southwest sued over inspections

Four passengers are suing Southwest Airlines in federal court over flights by dozens of planes that missed inspections during a period of about six years.
The lawsuit filed in Birmingham, Ala., seeks class-action status. Its claims include breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and negligent and reckless operation of an aircraft. The suit filed Friday contends the class probably covers more than 10,000 people.
The Dallas-based carrier temporarily grounded scores of its older Boeing 737 jetliners last month to carry out the inspections. It faces a $10.2-million fine by the Federal Aviation Administration.
