On the mend: Jim Lehrer, anchor and executive editor of PBS’ “The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer,” underwent a heart valve procedure at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston this week. A spokeswoman for the program described the operation as “a complete success” and said Lehrer would be back at work in a few weeks.

Stern sidekick: Kenneth Keith Kallenbach, an actor, comedian and long-running member of the supporting cast for radio host Howard Stern, has died at age 39. Kallenbach, who was arrested in March for allegedly trying to lure an underage girl into his car, contracted pneumonia at a prison outside Philadelphia and died Thursday morning at a suburban hospital, his mother said.
