U.S. Army deserter to be deported
From Times Wire Reports
A U.S. Army specialist who fled Ft. Bragg for Canada in 2004 after learning that his unit was to be deployed to Iraq was ordered deported.
Jeremy Hinzman, 29, who said he refused to participate in what he calls an immoral and illegal war, is likely to be court-martialed and could face up to five years in prison.
Hinzman said the Canada Border Services Agency told him to leave by Sept. 23 and said he would be handed over to U.S. authorities.
