Kellogg Co., the maker of Froot Loops and Corn Flakes, plans to raise U.S. breakfast-cereal prices for the third time in a year because of rising energy and ingredient costs.

Prices will go up on most of Kellogg’s cereals Jan. 18. On average, they will rise by “low-to-mid single digits” on a percentage basis, Susanne Norwitz, a spokeswoman for the Battle Creek, Mich., company, said.

Kellogg, the largest U.S. cereal maker, raised prices in January and June and plans to boost them again because “the previous price adjustment did not fully cover increased commodity and energy costs, which continue to increase,” Norwitz said.

The increases also cover Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts toaster pastries, she said.
