Re “Holiday ritual in a concrete mall,” Column One, Dec. 24

Why do any of these criminals deserve such treatment? Because they are women and mothers does not make the decisions they made any less reprehensible. They are not victims of men or society but of their own choices.

Why isn’t there a similar program for the larger number of men and fathers in prison, who long for freedom and their families? Why aren’t they accorded the same privileges?

Dads count also and love and miss their children as much as any of these “moms.”
