The right idea on healthcare

Now that I have read the letter from Alan Sokolow, chief medical officer of Blue Shield of California (“Letters,” Jan. 27), I am even more convinced that David Lazarus’ column is right on the money. (“Is this a healthy way to choose who gets care?” Consumer Confidential, Jan. 20.) I think Lazarus does a great service for your readers.
What’s more, I think it is rather presumptuous of Sokolow to assume that a “single-payer” healthcare system would be as restrictive on utilization as any private plan. I would argue just the opposite.
