From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Honeywell International Inc., the world’s largest maker of aircraft controls, said fourth-quarter earnings gained 18% on demand for airplane parts, thermostats and security systems.

Net income climbed to $689 million, or 91 cents a share, from $585 million, or 72 cents, a year earlier, meeting analysts’ estimates. Sales rose 12% to $9.3 billion, the Morris Township, N.J.-based company said.

All four of Honeywell’s divisions posted revenue gains of at least 11%. Commercial aviation and business jet orders lifted aerospace sales, and automation and control solutions benefited from demand for energy-conservation systems.
